Trip To The Museum
So we had some spare time on our hands and decided to visit two museums, namely the arts museum and the national museum. It was honestly a gorgeous eye opener. The vibrant exhibits, the rich cultures portrayed, the creativity that oozed and the vibrancy that lingered in the air was absolutely amazing. I fell in love with a particular exhibit, Genesis, a photo exhibition by renowned photographer Sebastiao Salgado. It was an exhibition that showcased Salgado's finest works from the period of 2004-2011 taken in over 30 different destinations. The way he captured the majesty and intricacies of nature was simply astounding and it was such a glorious sight to behold. Such a fruitful day:)
Your 20s
It's been said that you officially transit into supposed adulthood at the age of 20 and I must admit that it is awfully true, at least for me it is. The most precious memories in a person's life are more often than not formed in their 20s. The transition from high school to college, making of new friends, graduating, your first job, your first promotion, your first car, falling in love, marriage and maybe, kids. These are all precious memories you will form in your 20s.
Such a wonderful journey, but yet seemingly daunting. All the uncertainties, the pressure of living up to expectations, responsibilities and the constant struggle in running the rat race that we've all come to know as life, such are the challenges that lay ahead of us. I'll never forget this gem of advice that was given to me by a revered friend, a drop of wisdom if I may and I would love to share it with you. Hopefully, it'll help you as much as it did for me.
I was told that there are three realizations that one must have at the age of 20. Firstly, turning 20 means that you've to get your shit together. You'll never have the time to party as hard as you did nor will you ever have the luxury of time to make mistakes. No. Every decision you make from now on will have either a positive or a negative influence on your future and you have to realize that your future lies in your hands. And more often than not, our bad decisions come back to haunt us later on. So point 1, decisions. Make the best ones you can.
Actions. You've to realize that you are accountable for your own actions and that you've to take responsibility for them. Your actions may directly or indirectly affect the people around you such as your family and friends be it in the words you say or the things you do, there will always be an effect and you have to always be accountable for them.
Lastly, plans. You must always have a plan, a plan for your own future. You've to realize that your future lies in your own hands and it has been said, if you fail to plan you plan to fail. So take time to know yourself, to think about where you want to be and then start to plan for your own future. You must know what you want and you must be decisive. Know where you are headed for and constantly question yourself, is this the direction that I should be headed in? Is this what I want? Is this what's best for me? And you must always have a plan B, just so in case plan A fails, you'll have something to fall back on. If there's only one instance in your life that you must be selfish, that you can be selfish for, it is this, your dreams and your future. Be selfish for your dreams, fight hard for them and never let them go.
If there was one thing i gathered from the conversation with him, it is this, accountability. Accountability to yourself and not letting yourself down. Yes, you may fail along the way but you must be able to tell yourself that hey, I did my best. Always be able to answer to yourself. And with this, I wish you all the best, enjoy your 20s and yeap, go get em.

Vices.
Everyone has their vices and more often than not we let our vices run our lives. We've to admit, vices ruin our lives one way or the other. Be it a gambling addiction or a drinking problem, we all have our vices. Mine are cigarettes and alcohol. Cigarettes have become such a huge part of my life since it's induction into my life 7 years ago and I honestly can't remember a day when I've not smoked since. Be it when I'm waiting for a bus or when I've just had a hearty meal, yep I'll need to have one, or two. And at the end of a long day I'll always look forward to that gorgeous glass of cognac on the rocks. So yes, my vices are a huge part of my life, bigger than I would've envisioned them to be and bigger than I would've wanted them to be. But that slight adrenaline rush, that sense of relaxation and that sudden moment of clarity at the end of every puff, now that is honestly beautiful in itself. Yes I know that there will come a day when I've to bid this habit of mine farewell but till then, I'll take my damn chances and enjoy this friendship for just a little while longer.
Dreams.
What are dreams made of. Dreams to me, are made of hope. A person's dreams encompasses his entire being, everything he has ever loved, everything that he has ever hoped for, everything he has ever lived for. So please, whoever you are or wherever you are, don't ever lose focus nor hope in your dreams. Always know that you will get there, slowly but surely. After all, what do we really live for, if not for our dreams? Yes we may have our responsibilities and our fundamental humane need to survive but if you are living a life just for the sake of pure survival, wouldn't that be nothing more than a pitiful and painful existence? So, always remember, to never ever lose hope.
Books.
Books, we should all learn to touch them a little more. More often than not we tend to use means such as social media, games or friends as escapes from our daily lives and we all need to remember, that more often than not, books offer the best escapes from reality. Feeling a little down? There will always be self help books around. In a mood for a little adventure? Both fictional and non-fictional adventure novels abound. I've always loved to read. Books have always been, to me at least, the best form of an escape from reality. The journey from start to end, how you'll feel as if the protagonist is your closest friend, how your heart races or how you smile from ear to ear. Yes, books provide all of that. So we should never forget to read and never ever forget that there will always be a world out there to be discovered, if you'll just start turning the pages. And these are 10 of my absolute favorites, so whenever you do have the time, do give them a shot.
