Carpentry has existed since the dawn of civilization. From the production of simple household items to current day mass production factories, carpentry has come a long way in terms of development and advancement. From small makeshift workshops to huge production factories, the world of carpentry has grown and developed from it's humble beginnings to being a present day technological wonder. Furniture used to be handmade but currently, furniture is manufactured by machines on a larger scale. This change and advancement in technology allows for production to be done on a larger scale and makes furniture affordable for everyone. Handmade furniture still has a market and is available for the consumer who requires a custom fit. Bespoke furniture appeals to the niche market of the rich, where everything can be custom made to fit the customers needs and wants.

Present day carpentry workshops are well organized and would usually have ample storage facilities to reduce mess and promote proper organization.

This is the closest picture that I can find which would resemble an old carpentry workshop. A mess is more often than not prevalent, the workshop is usually incredibly cramped and there will always be a shortage of storage space.
